Alexa+ Gains New Feature: Ability to Read, Summarize, and Recall Lengthy Documents

by admin

During its annual Devices & Services event on Wednesday, Amazon unveiled Alexa+, a revamped version of its voice assistant, now enhanced by generative AI capabilities.

The demonstration highlighted Alexa+’s ability to accept shared documents, enabling it to remember key information and respond to inquiries related to those documents.

Mara Segal, the director of Alexa, illustrated several practical applications of this feature. For example, she posed the question, “What quantity of oil does grandma’s zucchini bread recipe call for?” and Alexa+ successfully retrieved the answer from a previously uploaded recipe.

In a more intricate scenario, users can submit a document from their Homeowners Association (HOA) and query the rules, which often go unnoticed.

Additionally, parents can forward multiple emails from their child’s school to Alexa+, enabling it to extract and summarize the key details. This feature also assists in calendar management, ensuring that users keep track of significant school events.

At the event, Amazon showcased various functionalities of Alexa+, including the capability to skip between different movie scenes on Prime Video and manage smart home devices, which allows users to seamlessly transfer music between speakers located in different rooms.
