On Friday, OpenAI announced the rollout of Operator, its AI agent designed to carry out tasks for users, to ChatGPT Pro subscribers in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the U.K., and other regions.
According to OpenAI, Operator will be accessible in most regions where ChatGPT operates, excluding the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.
Initially introduced in the U.S. in January, Operator stands as one of several emerging “AI agent” tools capable of performing various tasks, including booking tickets, making restaurant reservations, filing expense reports, and shopping on e-commerce platforms.

Currently, the tool is available exclusively to subscribers of the $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro package. Users can access it through a dedicated webpage, although OpenAI has indicated plans to integrate Operator with all ChatGPT platforms. The Operator runs in a separate browser window which users can take over at any moment to complete their tasks.
The landscape is competitive, with other companies, such as Google, Anthropic, and Rabbit, also developing agents capable of performing similar functions. However, Google’s initiative is still in a waitlist phase, Anthropic provides its agentic interface through an API, and Rabbit’s action model is currently limited to owners of its specific device.
