Google has initiated a new experiment utilizing AI to assist individuals in discovering a wider array of career opportunities. The company revealed on Wednesday that its innovative tool, “Career Dreamer,” is designed to identify connections among your experiences, skills, educational history, and personal interests, enabling you to discover careers that suit you.
With Career Dreamer, users can harness AI to create a career identity statement by choosing from their current and past roles, skills, experiences, education, and interests. Google emphasizes that this statement can be included in resumes or utilized as a reference for discussing your qualifications during interviews.
Career Dreamer offers a visual network of career paths that align with your background and interests. If a particular career piques your interest, you can explore it more deeply to understand its requirements and nuances.

The tool also provides an opportunity to work with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, to refine your cover letter or resume and discover additional job options.
It is important to note that, unlike well-known platforms such as Indeed and LinkedIn, Career Dreamer does not connect users directly to job listings. Instead, it aims to facilitate a quick exploration of various careers without having to conduct multiple searches.
Currently, Career Dreamer is only available as an experimental feature in the United States, and it remains unclear if or when Google will extend this feature to other countries.
“We hope Career Dreamer proves beneficial for a variety of job seekers,” stated Google in its blog. “Throughout its development, we engaged with organizations serving diverse groups, including students plotting their initial professional paths, recent graduates entering the job market, adult learners pursuing new avenues, and members of the military community, including veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses. If you’re contemplating a career shift or simply curious about your options, give Career Dreamer a try.”

In the blog post, Google references a report from the World Economic Forum that reveals individuals typically hold an average of 12 jobs throughout their lifetimes, with Gen Z projected to undertake 18 roles across six different careers.
Google acknowledges the challenge of articulating your past experiences into a coherent narrative, especially for those on non-traditional career trajectories, which is where Career Dreamer comes into play.
Moreover, Google believes this tool can aid users in effectively showcasing how their existing skills can align with various career opportunities.
